Are You Ready For Some Football?

So....I've been on a blogging hiatus, and while I'm not making any promises, I'm going to try my best to be a little more active as we head into football season.

The season kicks off tonight on NBC at 7:30pm CST with Super Bowl Champs Baltimore Ravens at the Denver Broncos to give us a repeat of last year's AFC division playoff game that ended in a victory for the Ravens with a final score of 38-35 in double OT.

The atmosphere will be different of course with the departure of Ray Lewis from the Ravens and the addition of a new offensive coordinator in Denver that has made some changes that will definitely make Peyton Manning and the Broncos a force to be reckoned with in the AFC.  New and first-time offensive coordinator Adam Gase says he's ready to call plays for Manning and with the addition of receiver Wes Welker to the offense we're sure to see a lot of "highlight worthy" plays as the quarterback/receiver duo bond together throughout the season.

As for the champs, quarterback Joe Flacco hasn't thrown a pick since week 15 last season!  Another fun fact....the Ravens have won their last five season openers, however, this is the first season that the super bowl champions have not had their season opener on their home field.

I'm excited for this game....and the changes made during the off-season will definitely make for some good football between the two teams.  ALSO...if you're playing fantasy football you have to set your line for the weekend games tonight!!!

Here are the other match-up for Week 1 of the 2013-2014 NFL season:

Oh yea.....I'm going with the Broncos on this one!

Connecticut Lady Huskies 2013 NCAA Women's Champions

In 2004 UConn men's and women's basketball team became the first duo to win championships in the same season. Tonight, the Louisville Lady Cardinals tried to remake history and win tonight's women's NCAA championship game against the UConn Huskies like the men with their win over Michigan last night.

Unfortunately, the Connecticut lady huskies shut that down early in the game by staying ahead the entire game to win their 8th NCAA women's basketball championship. This is the 8th time the Huskies have made it to the championship stage and they remain undefeated taking down the Louisville lady cardinals 93-60.

Freshman forward Breanna Stewart put up 23 points shooting 9-15 with 9 rebounds and 3 assists for the huskies.

Louisville Cardinals 2013 NCAA Champions

Now this was a game! After a back and forth battle and perhaps one of the greatest display of three-point shooting from bench players Hancock (Louisville) and Albrecht (Michigan) in a college game the comeback team won it all with a final score of 82-76 in this year's championship game.

NCAA national player of the year Trey Burke (Michigan) started the game off on fire with three early shots and seven points before getting into early foul trouble with two fouls early in the first half and sitting out the rest of the half. That's when freshman guard Spike Albrecht came off the bench for Michigan and scored a season high 17 points in the first half, 4-4 from three-point range. Answering to Albrecht was Luke Hancock off the bench for Louisville with three straight three's to close the 12 point gap for the cardinals ending the half 38-37 with Michigan up by one.

Trey Burke was back in the lineup in the second half for the wolverines and finished the game with 24 points and 4 rebounds but it wasn't enough as he and freshman Mitch McGary remained in foul trouble. First half star Albrecht was scoreless in the second round and GR3...Glen Robinson III and Tim Hardaway Jr., son's of former NBA standouts only put up 12 points each as Michigan came up short to the cardinals. Senior guard Peyton Siva had 18 points and and six rebounds to give Louisville the edge. This win gives number one seed Louisville three national championships in school history. Coach Rick Pitino became the only coach in college basketball to have two national championships.

Tomorrow the Louisville cardinals women's basketball team takes the stage in the NCAAW championship game against UConn. In their last meeting the huskies mauled the cardinals at home in Hartford, CT with a final score of 72-58 with their standout player Breanna Stewart out with an injury.

This game will definitely go down to the wire and I can't wait! I'll be back tomorrow with a recap of the women's NCAA basketball championship game between Big East rivals Connecticut and Louisville!

I'm Back!

Ok...it's been a while I know, but I'm back, just in time for the final four...I got good timing huh? While on my one year writing hiatus (yes, it's been a year don't judge me) I took some time to focus on my career and I totally neglected my passion for writing and my blog. That's all behind me now. I enjoy writing and I'm back doing what I love. Every now and then I may step out of my comfort zone and bring you a story that isn't of the sports persuasion...lol. I just want to write and hope that you enjoy it as well!

New Orleans Saints Under Fire.....AGAIN!!!

Tsk, tsk, tsk!  Where is the sportsmanship of the game now days?  After facing scrutiny from the NFL earlier this year, the Saints are back in the news facing more allegations of unsportsman like conduct.  Allegedly Saints GM Mickey Loomis used a listening device during home games to hear play calls from opposing teams.  Check the link for more details on this story.

The Lamar Odom Saga

I couldn't think of another title...so I rolled with this one. I thought it sounded intriguing...lol.

Ok so here's the scoop....at least what I could gather. Basically, there was no mutual agreement, Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks organization was tired of Lamar Odom. He was given chance after chance and they tried to work with him through his tough time of adjusting to a new environment but he just couldn't hold up his end of the deal.

It's totally understandable. People go through personal issues all the time, but at the end of the day, you still have a job to do....period. AND.....he's still getting paid! Lamar Odom is guaranteed $8.9 million this season and the Mavs will have to dish out another $2.4 million for next season! I guess the situation was just that bad....to deactivate him and still have to pay him. We keep hearing about the Mavs being 0-7 while Odom was out. Well, during that time Delonte West was out and so was Jason Kidd....I rest my case.

Lamar "Kardashian"....you put up absolutely no effort. The fans could tell in his demeanor that he just didn't give a damn about being here. Maybe basketball isn't fulfilling to him anymore....whatever the case may be our Mavs got the bad end of the deal.

I'm interested to see how this affects the hopeful acquisition of Deron Williams. Both he and Lamar share the same agent....I say his agent owes us one and convinces Williams to come on home to Dallas...IJS!
